Audits of agencies on our National Clinical Staffing Framework

All agencies supplying temporary workers to the NHS through our National Clinical Staffing Framework will be audited on an annual basis to help ensure compliance with NHS pre-employment check standards

The audit involves an inspection of a representative sample of individual temporary worker files and includes for example that appropriate checks have been made for example in relation to identity, right to work, training, professional qualification and registration and criminal record checks, amongst other checks.

Whilst we undertake this audit to help provide assurance in relation to pre-employment checks, trusts are reminded that checks are shared endeavour and they should request that agencies complete pre-employment checklists for workers supplied to the trust.

The results of the most recent file audits are avilable for view on the relevant information page (AHP, Nursing, Medical Locums & Other). If there is no audit available this means that the audit has yet to take place if within the first 12 months of the start of the contract or that agency has not yet had any supply through the Framework.
