Elaine Morris is LPP's new Talent Manager, charged with creating a procurement talent pipeline, to benefit NHS organisations across London. Here, in her first blog, she gives you an introduction to first steps and how you, too, can get involved.

As the newly appointed Talent Manager for LPP, my remit is (working in conjunction with our members) to create a Talent Pipeline specifically for procurement, and to establish an Academy Programme that promotes learning and opportunity at the heart of our profession. 

This involves delivering value for money for members, using your levy monies and helping to deliver targets, whilst at the same time creating knowledgeable employees, able to provide a quality service to our end users and meet the future challenges in the health and social care sector.

There are so many things we can do or consider. This is a very exciting remit and I am delighted to have been able to get the process underway.

Talking of 'exciting things', I have just applied to the Institute for Apprenticeships to see if we can host a ‘Trailblazer’ in Procurement and Supply at Level 3.  We are waiting on their Relationship Manager to contact us with the next steps.  If successful, I will be looking for four members who can be part of the board, designing the qualification and end point assessment.  There would be a monthly commitment until the beginning of Jan/Feb 2019 and also 10/15 people needed to join a virtual members’ board to review the project.

I have produced a list of possible services which the LPP Academy could provide and am currently chasing Graduate Pipeline opportunities for September/October through our very well connected Communications Team Lead Laura Quirke, adding value for our members.  The Data Table below shows a possible list of services considered to date – please note this list is not exhaustive.
