Executive Director to host HCSA masterclass in Social Value

Michelle McCann, Executive Director for Sustainability and Social Value, will be joining a host of experts for the Health Care Supply Association (HCSA) Development Programme next month, as a HCSA Trainer – sharing her insight and experience on all things social value and procurement.

The classes are open to procurement professionals from up and down the country who are members of HCSA. Other sessions include value based procurement, the power of data, negotiation training plus much more.

Michelle said: “I’m really looking forward to having the chance to meet lots of procurement professionals and raise the importance on why social value needs to be at the heart of NHS procurement processes and plans.

“There’s an old parable that says whilst you can give somebody a fish to resolve their immediate hunger, if you teach them to fish, then it’s a lot more sustainable. And this is what social value is about. The social value approach improves the outlook for a community, for example through employment or education opportunities and perhaps for people who may be marginalised or disadvantaged in some way.”
