ICDs and Pacemakers – new models and price reductions
After recent reviews with suppliers on the current ICDs and pacemakers framework, LPP is publishing revised pricing schedules and introducing some new models.
Details by supplier are:
Biotronik
• Pacemakers – no change in models or prices
• ICDs – Lumax range being phased out and replaced by IFORIA and IDOVIA
• Lumax 540 – IFORIA 3
• Lumax 640 – IFORIA 5
• Lumax 740 – IFORIA 7
• IDOVIA 7 – new range of high output devices with stored energy of 45j
• New IFORIAs are lower cost than phased out Lumax models
Boston
• Prices down by 5 per cent
• Pacemakers - H140 and H145 discontinued and replaced by Invive
• Pacemakers - Advantio J063 replaces Altrua 50
• All pacemakers now have rate response so no longer any DDD or SSI devices
• Note Boston is still applying the London commitment discount for 1000 pacemakers of 10 per cent as shown (in addition to market share discounts)
Medtronic
• No price changes
• New Loop Recorder LINQ added
• Additional Evera models included
St Jude
• Prices down by 5 per cent
• Pacemakers – Accent replaced by Endurity
• ICDs – Promote Quandra replaced by Quandra Assura
Sorin
• No price changes
• New DDDR pacemakers – REPLY 200 and KORA DR 100 MRI
• New single and dual chamber ICDs – INTENSIA DF4 (offered as device only)
• Sorin also offer a risk sharing programme which works as follows. Should a patient suffer an inappropriate shock or not respond to CRT therapy Sorin will reimburse 30 per cent of the original device cost back to the trust. This also extends to battery longevity and does not affect the standard warranties. Sorin aims to share the financial responsibilities when therapies are ineffective.
