This framework concerns the supply of a safe, legal, efficient and cost effective pharmaceutical wholesale service for the delivery of medicines and other pharmaceutical products to all specified and authorised delivery points for Participating Authorities.
As well as providing Participating Authorities with a compliant route to market, one of the main advantages of utilising the framework is the collaboration of trusts with the awarded pharmaceutical wholesalers to improve the service. There are nationally approved key performance indicators which support the collection of data to inform decision making. It is recognised that a trust's or region's purchasing decisions could have a detrimental effect on a neighbouring trust or region. Working collaboratively with experienced stakeholders is the key to a safer outcome for our patients.
The service may incorporate an option for service enhancements, such as seven day working, which integrate clinical pharmacy services and support risk avoidance and clinical governance agendas.
