Module 1 - An introduction to social value

Welcome to Module 1 of NHS LPP's Social Value Curriculum.

Training objectives

A comprehensive grounding of knowledge and understanding will be delivered on what social value is and how it will be measured. To assist with learning, group activities are planned for attendees to consider selecting relevant, proportional, additional and specific TOMs (Themes, Outcomes, Measures). An overview of how social value is evaluated will also be provided.

Who should attend?
A mix of all levels of staff from procurement, sourcing and commercial teams across all trusts that make up a specific ICB should attend and complete module 1. 

Format
This one-hour module is delivered as a live facilitated session via Microsoft Teams. It will be facilitated in ICB-specific groups with time allocated for audience Q&As. The session will be recorded for sharing within the ICB.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module, attendees will be able to:

  1. Explain social value roles and responsibilities in the NHS in London
  2. Articulate what social value is and its implications for the NHS in London
  3. Describe what the NHS London TOMs are and how they are quantified
  4. Summarise how social value is evaluated in bids and tenders
