Using process mapping to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks at South West London ICB
NHS London Procurement Partnership’s Programme Management Office team were commissioned by South West London Procurement Partnership (SWLPP) to undertake a comprehensive review and overhaul of existing processes within its centralised procurement team. Through a structured programme of process mapping, stakeholder engagement and project management expertise, NHS LPP supported the team to understand how processes operated in practice, identify areas of risk and duplication, and develop clear, sustainable processes that could be embedded across the organisation.
Using business intelligence to increase visibility of SME participation in London’s NHS supply chain
NHS London Procurement Partnership's Business Intelligence team developed a pan-London local Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) spend analysis for its members, helping NHS trusts understand how much addressable spend reaches SMEs. By combining Accounts Payable (AP) data with enhanced supplier analysis, the team have created a consistent view of SME spend across London, supporting the London Anchor Institutions’ Network ambition to grow local and diverse supply chains.
Turning market intelligence into better estates and facilities decisions
Our Estates, Facilities Management and Corporate Services team developed a quarterly Market Intelligence Report to help NHS trusts navigate changing market conditions, identify risks and opportunities, and make more informed procurement decisions. By bringing together economic data, supplier intelligence, sector trends and stakeholder insight, the report supports better value, increased resilience and more sustainable estates and facilities services.
Delivering mobile phone savings back into the NHS
NHS LPP’s Digital & Technology Solutions team developed a simple mobile phone audit programme to help NHS organisations understand their mobile estates, remove unnecessary costs and secure better value from their contracts. Starting as a London regional initiative for NHS LPP members, the programme has grown nationally, identifying more than £38 million in potential savings across 198 NHS organisations.
Helping South West London identify solutions to contract under-performance
NHS London Procurement Partnership worked with South West London Procurement Partnership to carry out an independent review of an under-performing facilities management contract. The review helped identify the causes of, and mechanisms available to rectify, increasing cost pressures within the existing contract and provide practical recommendations for both immediate action and future procurements.
Supporting faster, safer diagnostics through collaborative procurement
NHS LPP’s Healthcare & Pharmacy Services team worked with three other NHS procurement hubs to develop a national framework for contrast media, injectors, consumables and maintenance. Designed around clinical needs, it simplifies procurement, widens supplier participation and improves access to essential imaging products.
