A big win for NHS LPP at the HCSA Awards

NHS London Procurement Partnership (NHS LPP) has won a prestigious HCSA Award at a ceremony this week in Manchester.

The Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Procurement (MOPP) team won the Clinical Procurement in Partnership Award for creating a regional homecare dashboard to monitor a set of high-level, nationally recognised KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for homecare medicine services.

Herpria Bhogal, Regional Pharmacy Procurement Clinical Lead for MOPP (pictured right), commented: RH 8504
“It’s really rewarding to get recognised for the work that went into creating the dashboard. Leading this project took a lot of time and effort, but it’s proof that innovative solutions for maximising patient outcomes can be achieved through collaboration. As the Regional Homecare Specialist for London, I know the dashboard will be pivotal for managing our services and working with suppliers, and I hope trusts and patients will get to feel these benefits too.”

Following the creation of the dashboard, there is now:
• An easy way to monitor or trend homecare KPIs
• A way to easily compare and trend supplier performance
• A way to easily highlight data errors in homecare KPI reporting
• A regional overview of the homecare market (suppliers, patient numbers, therapy areas)
• A way for trusts to directly compare the KPIs across suppliers or homecare services
• No need for the individual submission of KPIs from suppliers to contracting hubs and NHS trusts

There are currently over 500,000 homecare patients in the UK equating to an estimated annual spend of £4billion. The London region comprises approximately 25% of this market according to total spend, so the MOPP team recognised that maximising patient outcomes and efficiencies from homecare medicines services was paramount. The team worked alongside Promatica to develop the regional homecare KPI dashboard and help realise the full benefits of homecare medicines services in London.

“The clarity of the dashboard means it can be used to have better informed conversations and more collaboration between trusts, suppliers, and Regional Homecare Specialists, to ensure patients get the best service and outcomes from their homecare medicines. We are delighted the dashboard has been recognised by the HCSA as we truly believe in its effectiveness ourselves. Trusts are already interacting with the dashboard and providing great feedback.”

Michael Pace, Managing Director of NHS LPP, commented:
“I am thrilled for MOPP, the NHS LPP team. They all worked so hard to create the dashboard which is going to bring great benefits to NHS LPP members, and most importantly patients. It is great to get the HCSA recognition as it caps what has been a great year for NHS LPP.”

Well done also to the Estates, Facilities and Corporate Services (EFCS) team at NHS LPP, which was shortlisted for the Procurement Team of the Year Award.
